Managing Student-Parent Expectations during, and Post-pandemic (Beginner Level)

    05:00-08:00pm IST • 06:30-09:30am ET • 11:30am-02:30pm GMT

Parents and schools play a critical role in helping children make decisions during their transition from school to post-secondary or higher education. With the pandemic leading to increased uncertainty in higher education, they must help their children become more resilient and help improve achievement. To this end, schools must prepare parents and children on what to expect from universities in this new normal. The objective of the session is to cultivate mindfulness and guide participants on efficiently addressing queries from students and parents during one-on-one sessions, how to record these conversations and build on them effectively. The session will also throw light on how universities globally are responding to the evolving situation to best serve both domestic and international students. Some of the key concerns arising from students and parents include the selection of universities, both in their home countries and abroad, assistance with various admission processes, and pre-requisites and guidance around financial aid and scholarships.

With a Master’s degree in Psychology, I delight in understanding and reaching out to students. I thoroughly enjoy exploring valuable opportunities and making choices, along with the students, for their future course of study. Having been a teacher and had the experience of setting up a career counselling center at a top school, I find the close interaction and collaboration with all stakeholders involved truly engaging and demanding. Now, the stimulation and challenge are to add to this background. I am working towards engaging with international institutions to facilitate exchange and specialized study programmes that will enrich the educational journeys of students.
